Australia is very well known for its Great Barrier Reef but not many people are aware of the unique hotspot for marine biodiversity in Tasmania. The huge kelp forests, the spotted handfish and the cormorant of Macquarie Island only exist here and they cannot be found anywhere else on earth! Diving in these waters is nothing like you have seen before. You must see it to believe it!

Snow-capped in winter, 1,270-meter-high kunanyi (aboriginal name for Mount Wellington) overlooks Hobart. There is a winding narrow 21-kilometre (13 miles) mountain road that takes you all the way up to the summit amidst subalpine scenery. Browse the old pictures at the Pinnacle, and admire the Organ Pipes, a cliff of dolerite columns very popular for the rock-climbing community. If you walk from the Springs to Sphinx Rock you will get stunning views of these rock formations. Follow the trails and boardwalks and reach the edge of the escarpment. Not far from Port Arthur, there is Tasman National Park. Admire its beauty and cliff and rock formations. On the way from Hobart to Port Arthur you can stop at historic Richmond as well.

A short 30 minute drive south of the city, you cross the D'Entrecasteaux channel from Kettering and head to Bruny Island.
