Dubrovnik is considered as one of the most well preserved medieval cities. The old town is enclosed by sturdy stone walls that used to protect the city between the 11th and 17th centuries. A very well known landmark is the clock tower on Luza Square. This tower is 31 metres high and it has two bronze figures “Baro” and “Maro”, known as the Green Men, either side of the bell that chimes every day at noon. In the middle of the tower, two small squares in blue, show the time in a peculiar way - Roman numerals on the left and numbers on the right.
