Don’t tell anyone, but Hua Hin is a favourite holiday spot for the Thai locals, and your destination for that authentic Thai feel. There are a wide range of apartments and villas to choose from in and around the town, most of which are right on or a short hop from the beaches. Many apartments are close to the famous Hua Hin night market so convenient for late-night shopping. If you’re looking for peace and tranquillity but easy access to the city, step just outside the town to the picturesque fishing village of Khao Takieb, just 10 miles south of Hua Hin.

On the whole Hua Hin’s homes are more suited to couples and small groups, as 1 and 2 bedroom apartments abound. However, larger groups can live like a film star in one of the spectacular luxury four and five-bedroom villas in the lush, tropical countryside just outside the town. And you won’t believe the attractive low prices!

Located just three hours by bus from the capital Bangkok and Thailand’s main international airport, Hua Hin is a small town well located for visitors to this enchanting country. Hua Hin’s main attraction is its beach, a 4-kilometre white, sandy strip that stretches from the town centre south to Khao Takiap. The town is small enough that you can comfortably get around by foot, but if you want to venture out to visit the surrounding attractions, consider renting a moped and doing it like the locals!

Night and handicraft markets in the heart of the town, the Hua Hin Floating Market 6 kilometre south of the centre, the themed open-air mall Plern One, a living museum to Hua Hin life in 1950s, and Venezia Hua Hin, a mini replica of Venice, with San Marco's bell tower; a canal, and perfect replicas of the venetian gondola!

The majority of visitors come to Hua Hin for its beaches. While many other beach towns in Thailand are all about the nightlife, Hua Hin is a much quieter destination, and you can easily find a peaceful spot for some soothing sun-worshipping. Suan Son Pradipat Beach comes highly recommended. Lined by pine trees and mostly undeveloped, it boasts clear, shallow water and a couple of great value restaurants in the north end.

Away from the young, rowdy crowds, Hua Hin has so many attractions for you and your family. Why not take your children snorkelling for the day in the crystal blue waters of the islands of Hua Hin? Take a boat out and spend the day swimming with the colourful tropical fishes and copious coral reefs! And how about a spot of horse riding on the beach? A popular activity in Hua Hin among both locals and tourists, there are little ponies for the children, making it a perfect activity for the whole family.

A 20-minute tuk-tuk journey from the town, you climb about 100 steps up to a Buddha Temple for some lovely views of the coastline of Hua Hin. The area is home to a large number of monkeys, and make sure you hold onto your belongings tight, as they will happily relieve you of them!

Not many people associate Thailand with vineyards, but Hua Hin Hills Vineyard is home to an award-winning wine sold under the Monsoon Valley label. The vineyard is home to a well-appointed restaurant with a balcony overlooking the surrounding mountains, and the menu is paired with only their wines.

An unmissable part of your visit to Hua Hin, the market offers an eclectic mix of east meets west with stalls that offer clothes, wares and a wide range of handmade souvenirs, many made in the local region. The real draw here though are the food stands, a veritable feast for the senses, with just-caught fresh lobsters and crabs, colourful tropical fruits and all kinds of delicious street food such as Pad Thai.

Just 15 minutes drive from town, this water park offers nine water slides, a big wave pool, a lazy river, and a dedicated kids’ pool set in a stunning tropical landscape. The facility is very clean and queues are short to non-existent!

Maruekathaiyawan Palace boasts an attractive architectural style that stands it apart from other Thai palaces. It is built raised from the ground on pillars and entirely made from teak wood. The area is known to be beneficial to health with its forests and fresh sea air, and following a visit to the palace, make sure to take a relaxing walk on the beautiful nature trail that cuts through the surrounding mangrove forest.
